Does the Ford Mustang Active Performance Exhaust Audio System Bypass the Catalytic Converter

Ford engineers have advanced a noise enhancement technology that utilizes a system that bypasses the factory noise restrictor at the will of the driver in the 2019 Ford Mustang. The system works off a valve system that is activated at the push of a button located on the steering wheel.

Though the system opens valves along the exhaust manifold, it does not inhibit satisfying environmental protection exhaust level laws. The exhaust is routed through a separate pipe where the noise regulating valves are located that intersects with the catalytic converter so that emission standards are maintained. While driving in Tyler, TX and keeping the noise level down, the driver lets the system remain in the “quiet mode.” When opening up on the highway, the driver can select the normal or sport mode.

At Tyler Ford, we demonstrate the exhaust noise valve system to every potential Ford Mustang customer.
